Tips for your newborn session

What to expect/bring on session day

Newborn sessions typically last around 2-4 hours as baby will need lots of breaks between posing.

Be prepared for extra feedings just in case.

Pacifiers can work wonders when posing a baby!

You will have access to WIFI, water, and snacks in the studio.

The studio will get very warm during the newborn part of the session so they are comfortable.

For most of the session I will be posing baby on my own and handing them off to a parent between sets. There may be an occasional pose where I ask a parent to briefly sit with baby.

I know its seems impossible with such a new baby but try to relax. This day is about creating and capturing precious memories for your family!

What to wear?

What you choose to wear will set the mood for your images so consider how you will use them. Wearing blue jeans and a top/t-shirt will give a more casual look while wearing a dress and button down will give you an elevated look.

For clothing its best to sick with soft colors. Choose a neutral base like creams, whites, grays, or tans. Then add in pops of color. For a more cohesive gallery choose a pop of color that matches what you listed in your questionnaire.

Avoid too much matchy matchy. Its best to pick coordinating neutrals with pops of color. Also, avoid bold patterns and logos.

Be sure to clean and moisturize your nails/hands as some of the classic baby images may have close ups of your hands.

The best thing you can do is make sure everyone is comfortable in their outfits. This is especially true for young children as it will show in their smiles if they are uncomfortable.
